Pesticide Use in Our Community

Learn about Protecting the Environment and Human Health through Integrated Pest management.

The panelists will discuss the environmental and health risks of pesticides and possible solutions for routine public land pesticide use. 

The presentation is free and open to the general public


Panelists include:

CISMA-Cake, works to improve the diversity and quality of local natural areas of Charlevoix, Antrim, Kalkaska, and Emmet Counties (CAKE) through public engagement and education.

Dan’s Green Side Up, a professional Northern Michigan lawn and landscape management company, providing an environmentally sound approach in their maintenance programs for private or commercial properties.

Little Traverse Conservancy, serves to protect the natural diversity and beauty of northern Michigan by preserving significant land and scenic areas, and fostering appreciation and understanding of the environment.

MSU Extension Services, Agriculture/IPM/ Pesticide Safety and Education, collaborates with the faculty and Extension educators to develop diverse information serving growers of many crops, the landscape/turf “green” industry, and those looking for home and garden pest solutions.

Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, dedicated to protecting our lakes, streams, wetlands, and groundwater through respected advocacy, innovative education, technically sound water quality monitoring, thorough research, and restoration actions.

Following a short presentation from each of the panelists, audience members will be able to submit questions to the group.
