Local Housing Challenges

Learn about the challenges and opportunities for meeting the need for more full-time residential housing in Northern Michigan.  

• Andrea Jacobs, Housing North’s Emmet County Housing Ready Director, will review local housing needs, identify obstacles for building more housing, and discuss strategies to counter them. 

• Sarah Ulrich, Executive Director of the Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity, will describe the Meadowlands housing development near Oden, as a successful case study of how challenges can be overcome.  

• Scott Smith, retiring chair of the Little Traverse Bay Housing Partnership, will review the history of the Partnership and what it has accomplished and will moderate the panel discussion.
